What happens if I have no mask? Am I still allowed to travel with FlixBus?
Is it enough to cover my face with a scarf or another fabric or do I have to wear a professional mask?
In the context of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, a face covering is something which safely covers the nose and mouth. You can buy reusable or single-use face coverings. You may also use a scarf, bandana, religious garment or hand-made cloth covering but these must securely fit round the side of the face.
From which age do children have to wear masks onboard?
Children also have to wear a mask while onboarding and traveling on FlixBus. Parents have to bring own masks or face covering also for their children. According to the UK government guidelines young children under the age of 11 do not need to wear a face covering (Public Health England do not recommended face coverings for children under the age of 3 for health and safety reasons).
Does FlixBus hand out masks when someone doesn’t have them? For free or for what price?
Customers will be informed about wearing a mask (mouth nose protection) when purchasing their ticket, which gives them time to buy/bring a face mask (mouth nose protection) and be prepared. It is not possible to buy a mask on site. Passengers without masks can be rebooked to a later point to have more time to purchase a mask.
Is wearing gloves mandatory as well?
No, the wearing of gloves is not mandatory.
Will you measure the temperature of customers before boarding?
No, we will not take the temperature of our customers. We urge every customer to not travel and consult with a doctor if they feel sick.
Will you measure the temperature of bus drivers / station personnel before starting their shift?
No, we will not take the temperature of our bus drivers and station personnel. We urge them to not come to work and consult with a doctor if they feel sick.
Is the air on board well circulated?
Yes, all our buses have state of the art air conditioning which circulates and filters the air in the bus. Bus drivers will also make sure to open both doors at the bus stops to make sure that fresh air is let into the bus. We clean our air-conditioning filters regularly and make sure our vehicles are frequently ventilated.
How do you ensure a safe boarding and offboarding?
The safety and well-being of our customers, drivers, partners and employees is our top priority. Boarding and off-boarding is is supervised by the bus driver and station agents. We ask our passengers to be patient and keep the distance while boarding and off-boarding the bus.
Will bus drivers still be storing and taking out luggage where possible, or are customers fully responsible?
The safety and well-being of our customers, drivers, partners, and employees is our top priority. Please follow instructions by bus drivers/station personnel to keep 2 m distance while boarding the vehicle and while placing and picking up luggage from the luggage compartment. Customers encouraged to place and pick up luggage themselves as instructed by FlixBus staff unless assistance needed. Boarding and off-boarding is supervised by the bus driver and station agents. We ask our passengers to be patient and keep the distance while boarding and off-boarding the bus.
How are we ensuring the safety of passengers’ luggage and make sure that they will not be contaminated?
We advise passengers to disinfect your hands and the luggage after having taken it. They may also bring single-usage gloves voluntarily to do so.
Will the use of hand sanitizer and the wearing of masks be mandatory at each break?
It is mandatory to use always sanitizers when entering the bus. During breaks wearing a mask/covering nose and mouth depends on local requirements of the authorities and keeping sufficient distance.
What if I booked a seat that is not available anymore on board?
The driver or FlixBus personnel, will show you your new seat. Via our contact form you can get in touch with us regarding an reimbursement for the seat reservation cost.
Can I still travel with a printed ticket?
You can board the bus with any kind of valid ticket. Paper tickets have QR codes that will be scanned. In some countries there are different ticket layouts purchased offline with no QR code, these will be inspected visually by our drivers or station assistants without touching them. You will still be able to travel with us.
Do I need a self-certification to travel with FlixBus? Will I be registered as travelling with FlixBus?

It is your responsibility to be up to date with the travel requirements in the country of your final destination as well as potential transit countries.

How do you make sure, that people keep distance while waiting for the bus?
Stations will be marked with tape for 2 [m] distances in boarding areas. For unattended stops we encourage all our customers to follow the rules given by the government and to act responsibly with one another. Please keep your distance for your own safety and for the safety of those around you.
For how long will these measures stay in place?
FlixMobility is monitoring the situation regarding COVID-19 with the utmost care and is in close contact with the authorities. The safety of our customers and staff is of utmost priority to us. Presently, we cannot make any concrete statement about the duration of these necessary measures.
Have you reduced the number of bookable seats on board?

Keeping a safe distance when getting on and off the bus, less movement in the bus and a very good cleaning as well as covering mouth and nose (when getting on and off the bus as well as during the journey) guarantee a very good protection. In line with local regulations, we currently offer a limited number of seats on board of our buses.
Country without capacity limitation:
The safety and well-being of our customers, drivers, partners, and employees is our top priority. Our safety and hygiene regulations go beyond the minimum legal requirements. Our buses are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected after each journey. Additional cleaning and disinfection takes place at main bus stops. Keeping a safe distance when getting on and off the bus, less movement in the bus and a very good cleaning as well as covering mouth and nose (when getting on and off the bus as well as during the journey) guarantee a very good protection. This is also shown, among other things, by the EU's decision on air traffic. Currently, the number of bookable seats in the buses has not been reduced, as this measure would severely affect the financial viability of our bus partners in these difficult times.
Which countries’ regulations are valid on cross-border connections?
On cross-border relations, we follow both countries’ regulations and inform our customers when booking a ticket as well as before the trip about possible alternating regulations at their destination or during their journey.
How do I know which connections will be operated and which will not?
All trips that are bookable for the next three weeks will be operated as scheduled We will add more trips on our websitewithin the next weeks.. As the situation is constantly changing, there might be changes with the trips that are scheduled in more than three weeks, but we will keep you informed about your booking.
