FlixBus transfers from Paris Beauvais Airport to Paris
Paris Beauvais Tillé Airport (BVA) handles over 10 million passengers a year on routes operated by Ryanair, Wizz Air, Volotea, and others operating mostly short-haul flights connecting the Paris region to destinations across Europe and North Africa.
The catch is the location: 85 km north of the city, in Picardy rather than Île-de-France.
Getting from BVA to central Paris independently is complicated. Trains from Beauvais require a separate taxi or shuttle to the SNCF station first, and the journey time stacks up. A direct FlixBus coach is the cleaner option, with just one ticket, no transfers, and it drops you in the heart of Paris.
Fares vary with demand, so booking your bus from Beauvais Airport to Paris ahead will get you the best price.
Finding your FlixBus stop at Paris Beauvais Airport
After landing, follow the signs for ground floor exits from your arrivals hall towards the central bus station, which sits between Terminals 1 and 2. FlixBus transfers to Paris depart from here alongside several other operators, so check your ticket for the correct platform before boarding.
If you are arriving on a non-Schengen flight, clear passport control before heading to the bus station. On busy mornings, queues can add 10-20 minutes.
Bus journey to Paris
The coach from Beauvais Airport to Paris runs direct to Porte Maillot with no intermediate stops, covering the 85 km in around 1 hour 20 minutes. It arrives at the Pershing bus station (22 Boulevard Pershing, 75017 Paris), where Porte Maillot metro and RER stations are a short walk away.
Post-landing buffer
Book a departure that gives you at least 45 minutes from your scheduled landing time. You will need time to get through passport control (if applicable), collect checked bags, and reach the bus station on foot.
Getting around Paris
Porte Maillot sits at the western edge of central Paris, in the 17th arrondissement, about 3 km from the Arc de Triomphe. The city's public transport network is comprehensive from here:
- Metro: Line 1 runs east along the main axis of central Paris. Champs-Elysées is four stops away; the Louvre and the Marais are a few more. Line 2 is also accessible at Porte Maillot, running north and east towards Pigalle and Père Lachaise.
- RER: RER C southbound serves the Eiffel Tower (Champ de Mars–Tour Eiffel), the Musée d'Orsay (Musée d'Orsay stop), and continues to Versailles-Rive Gauche. Useful if you are staying on the Left Bank.
- Bus: Surface bus routes from Porte Maillot reach parts of the city the metro misses, including Montmartre and the northern arrondissements. Slower but gives you a ground-level view of the city.
A single metro/bus ticket is valid for one journey anywhere within zones 1-5. A carnet of 10 or a Paris Visite day pass is better value if you plan to make several journeys. Buy at any metro station ticket machine.
Things to do in Paris
Eiffel Tower
One of the most photographed structures in the world and still worth the visit, even though the queues can be brutal in summer. Timed tickets for the lifts sell out weeks ahead from June to September; book online. The base and the Champ de Mars park are free to access at any time. Nearest station: Bir-Hakeim on line 6, about 11 minutes on foot.
The Louvre
The scale of the Louvre's collection means most visitors see a fraction of it. The crowds thin out considerably in the Richelieu wing (Flemish masters, Dutch Golden Age) and the Sully wing's Egyptian antiquities. Consider spending more time there than in the famous rooms around the Mona Lisa. The museum is closed on Tuesdays; early-morning entry on weekdays is the least crowded.
Notre-Dame Cathedral
After the 2019 fire, Notre-Dame reopened in December 2024 following a meticulous restoration that rebuilt the spire and much of the nave ceiling. Entry is free; pre-booked timed slots are advised at weekends. The exterior stonework and the view from the Île de la Cité are worth the visit even if you do not go inside.
Montmartre and Sacré-Cœur
Montmartre sits on a hill in the 18th arrondissement, noticeably separate in character from the Haussmann boulevards below. The streets around Place du Tertre and Rue Lepic have independent cafés and bakeries that hold up well outside tourist season. Sacré-Cœur at the summit is free to enter; the view from the steps stretches across most of central Paris.
Musée d'Orsay
The Orsay's collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist work is the most complete anywhere, with Monet, Cézanne, Renoir, Seurat, Van Gogh, and Gauguin all represented in depth. The building itself, a converted 1900 railway terminus, is worth attention: the original station clock faces survive intact on the upper level. Closed on Mondays. Nearest station: Musée d'Orsay on RER C.
Le Marais
The Marais covers the 3rd and 4th arrondissements and is one of the few parts of central Paris that survived Haussmann's 19th-century reconstruction with its medieval street plan largely intact. The Place des Vosges, built in 1612, is the oldest planned square in the city. The neighbourhood also has the Musée Picasso, the Musée Carnavalet (free entry), and the Rue des Rosiers.
Canal Saint-Martin
A 4.5 km canal cutting through the 10th and 11th arrondissements, lined with iron footbridges, plane trees, and a mix of cafés and independent shops. It is a working waterway and a popular spot for an afternoon walk or a drink outside. Much less visited than the central tourist sites and more representative of everyday Paris.
Sainte-Chapelle
Built between 1242 and 1248 to house relics brought back from the Crusades, Sainte-Chapelle is effectively a stone frame for 15 metres of stained glass covering nearly every wall of the upper chapel. It is architecturally more unusual than Notre-Dame and receives far fewer visitors. On the Île de la Cité, a short walk from the cathedral. Book tickets in advance to skip the queue.
Père Lachaise Cemetery
The largest cemetery in Paris — 44 hectares in the 20th arrondissement — is also one of its most distinctive places to spend an hour or two. The winding lanes pass ornate family tombs from the 19th and early 20th centuries. Notable graves include Jim Morrison, Edith Piaf, Frédéric Chopin, Oscar Wilde, and Marcel Proust. Free to enter; maps available at the main gate on Boulevard de Ménilmontant.
